We’re not just a furniture company, we’re a business that believes in making the world a more comfortable place. That belief drives everything we do. It shapes our relationship with our people, our planet, and of course, our communities.
Our team is proud to support a range of community projects across Ireland - helping to create comfortable spaces to support the important work carried out by local charities and organisations.
Want to know how our teams have been supporting charities and organisations within Ireland? Check out some of our recent projects below:
Bringing together the first solo exhibition of an up-and-coming textile artist, a weekend of introductory punch needle workshops at an independent gallery, and fundraising for Irish charity ALONE, which supports older people across the country - it’s no wonder we were proud to support Ireland’s first Punch Needle Extravaganza.
Community and togetherness is a key part of helping those experiencing homelessness get back on their feet - and for this project, we were proud to collaborate on a stunning makeover at Mid West Simon Community’s Oaklodge, giving the residents a place to relax and socialise in stylish, comfortable surroundings.
By transforming two spaces at NOVAS Bella House, a shelter for vulnerable women, we helped to create new indoor and outdoor community areas for residents to socialise, relax, and take part in counselling sessions - improving the quality of their day-to-day lives.
For children with life-limiting conditions and their families, walking into a hospice for care and support can bring up a lot of stress and worries. We partnered with designer Alannah Monks and Crown Paints transforming the reception area at LauraLynn into a welcoming, comfortable space for families and visitors to relax and receive support.
A newly refurbished female-only wing at NOVA McGarry House was missing something important - a communal space. We at DFS were delighted to team up with Joanne Mooney to turn a small storage area into a serene, calm space for vulnerable women to relax, socialise and settle into their new home.
When we say comfort should be for all, we mean it. It’s why we’re committed to Giving Back, and why we made three straightforward pledges - to provide time, resource and money - to support the communities in which we operate.
As part of our benefits package, every DFS colleague has the option to take one fully paid volunteering day per year, to help any charity close to their hearts - so we can support them in giving back to their community. With over 5,000 DFS colleagues spread across the UK and Ireland, that’s a whole lot of volunteering time to make a difference in local communities!
We know first hand how much difference a comfy sofa or bed can make to someone’s quality of life. That’s why we’ve made a commitment to give away up to 1% of our products every year to those charities and organisations who need it most. *subject to application, eligibility and suitable products being available.
Each year we set a goal to raise and donate up to 1% of our profits before tax - and we’re proud to say everyone at DFS gets involved. From bake off competitions to staff furniture sales, we rally around to raise as much as we can for the charities close to our hearts. Our colleague Matched Giving Scheme gives an extra boost to any fundraising efforts too.
